Charles Edward Bruce, Lord Bruce DL MA MSc FSA Scot
Charles Bruce (Lord Bruce) is Convenor (elect) of the Standing Council of Scottish Chiefs. He is heir to Andrew Bruce, 11th Earl of Elgin & 15th Earl of Kincardine KT, 37th Chief of the Name of Bruce. He is active in conserving Scottish heritage at home and overseas and connecting with Scottish cultural organisations in North America. He has served as Chairman of the Patrons of the National Galleries of Scotland, and as a trustee of the Historic Scotland Foundation. He was awarded the Paolozzi Medal by the National Galleries of Scotland for fundraising (2012) and he received the Wallace Award from the American Scottish Foundation (2022).
He chairs the Kolkata Scottish Heritage Trust which is conserving a Scottish Cemetery in India. He is a Member of the King’s Bodyguard for Scotland, the Royal Company of Archers; he serves as a Deputy Lieutenant for the Kingdom of Fife and as Hon. Major, 31 Combat Engineer Regiment (The Elgins), Canadian Forces. He is President, Dunfermline United Burns Club and an honorary Keeper, the Keepers of the Quaich. He has acted as Chieftain of both the Fergus Highland Games and the Kincardine Highland Games. =
He was educated at Eton College, the University of St Andrews (MA Hons) and the University of Dundee (MSc).
