Policy - Household Delegate Members   By-Law Home

Definition

A Household Delegate is a membership that occurs for one or more individuals who are elected by the Household Representatives of the Household membership class.

Process for the election of Household Delegates.

  1. The Board determines the number of delegates needed for the households to elect.
  2. Count and configuration as to regional or other groupings will be based upon the number of members to represent, their location and other characteristics, plus the number of organizational members in place.
  3. There would first be a call for, vetting and acceptance of nominations for Household Delegates. Scots of Canada may, at the Board's discretion, provide incentives for someone to be a Household Delegate such as a complimentary membership for the household.
  4. Voting by Household Representative for Household Delegates through a web and/or mobile app.
  5. Verification and announcement of elected Household Delegates.

Household Delegates will have specific duties to undertake such as representing the interests of the Household Members, attendance, interacting, and voting at members of the meetings. Additional duties such as attendance at delegate meetings and/or committee participation may be required at the discretion of the Board.

The term of membership by a Household Delegate as a voting member begins upon election by the Household Representatives in the manner prescribed by the Board and automatically ends upon the call for new Household Delegate elections by the Board or upon disqualification/inability of the Household Delegate to perform the Household Delegate’s duties.

A Household Delegate is disqualified and automatically removed from their position should they not attend, or be unable to attend, meetings of members that arise during their tenure.

Household Delegate Requirements

The following requirements and restrictions apply to individuals who wish to be and remain a Household Delegate:
